What the Industries Best Have to Say About Intermittent Fasting

Hey everyone! It is time for some more talk about Intermittent Fasting (IF). I have been promoting IF pretty hard on my blog. I have been experimenting with the various methods since the New Year and have had much personal success. My clients and members at State of Fitness have also been incorporating IF into their lifestyle with a lot of success.

I get a lot of questions to why I have switched my philosophy of eating. Well, there are two big reasons.

1. What I was recommending to my clients and members wasn’t working. In short, it was just to hard to eat 5-7 times a day for most folks.

2. After reading literally hundreds of articles, studies, blogs and books on Intermittent Fasting in the last 12 months, I noticed the pendulum was changing.

As Mark Sisson put it:  “But like many behaviours in the fitness and health world, there comes a point where the benefits decrease and we find ourselves on the dreaded plateau.”

So in this blog post I wanted to share with you some articles and blogs that have been written by some of the fitness industries leading minds. These trainers, coaches and Primal Living promoters are people I have a tremendous amount of respect for. They have had a big influence on helping me develop my own philosophies on eating, training and lifestyle. You will enjoy their stories on how IF has affected them and their knowledge of IF.

Why I Choose Intermittent Fasting Part I & II by Me!

The first articles I want to share with you are about my decision to start doing IF. Over these two articles I also talk about the benefits and methods of IF.

These articles were previously posted on www.expectsuccessfitness.com. The owner, John Mulry, is a great trainer out of Ireland that is doing big things. He was nice enough to ask me to do some guests posts. Look for a guest post from him on my blog in the near future.

Why I Choose Intermittent Fasting Part II

Mark Sisson- Mark’s Daily Apple

Is Intermittent Fasting Healthy?

Mark Sisson is the creator of one of the most popular fitness websites on the planet, Mark’s Daily Apple.  In the past year his philosophies have influenced me dramtically. His Primal way of living by embracing the hunter and gather approach (paleo lifestyle), followed by lifting heavy things, sprinting, active play and stress free living makes total sense.

On top of that, he may be the most well read person on nutrition that I have ever know. In all of his blogs, he backs up his words with links to studies on everything form cholesterol, diabetes, healthy animal fats and why veganisim doesn’t work,  just to name a few.

Make sure to visit his website and subscribe to it.

Martin Berkhan

Top Ten Fasting Myths Debunked

Martin Berkhan is one of the biggest pioneers of Intermittent Fasting. His Leangains method of IF has taken the industry by storm. I, personally recommend and perform his method the most out of all the IF methods.

If you are skeptical of Intermittent Fasting, read this article. It will change your mind.

I bet these guys didn’t eat breakfast either :)

John Romaniello- Roman Fitness Systems

I started following Roman about 5 or so years ago on one of my favorite websites, T-Nation.

He is a self proclaimed pretty-boy and bad-ass that has a great tongue-in-cheek approach to fitness and himself. His articles and blogs are refreshing to read. He does not BS about anything, giving you an unbiased and educated approach to life and fitness. Roman also knows his stuff about shedding fat, building muscle and has a good sense of fashion.

His two-part series has boat loads of information on IF, with some great links to some studies that pertain to IF.

Neghar Fonooni- Eat, Lift, and be Happy

Neghar is a women not afraid to lift heavy weights and tell you she loves to eat. I first came across Neghar by watching a podcast of a kettlebell seminar that she put on at the infamous Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning facility (voted #1 by Men’s Health).  She is RKC certified and knows her way around the weight room better than most guys I know.

Neghar is also one of the founders of the big women’s movement website, Girls Gone StrongThese women are committed to showing the world that girls need to have a positive self-image, lift heavy weight in the gym, and empower women to believe in themselves.

Neghar is a wonderful writer and motivator. ALL women (and Men) will be inspired by her.

Anthony Mychal- Beast Mode Fitness Systems

Anthony is a great up-and-coming trainer that is making some big noise. His writings have appeared on some big websites such as T-Nation, and Arnold’s new website.

I had to include his last post talking about his IF experiences. It is engaging, funny, and reminded me a lot of what I experience at times. A great read for anyone engaging in IF.
